Mon, 02 Apr 2012 16:36:00 -0700 The 7 Deadly List Building Sins http://blog.kajabi.com/the-7-deadly-list-building-sins http://blog.kajabi.com/the-7-deadly-list-building-sins

The7listbuildingsins

When it comes to building a list, you're always going to hear about the latest and greatest ninja marketing tactics on how to do it. Problem is, most wannabe marketers are always searching for those "secret" strategies, while failing to implement the obvious building blocks of list building to their own sites.

The following are the seven deadly list building sins - are you guilty of committing any one (or all) of them?

1.) Sloth: Being Too Lazy To Build A List

The first and most obvious list building sin is to simply not build a list at all.  This is probably the most common of all the seven.  Let's be honest - most people are just lazy or too scared to figure it out.

That said, we understand that there's a good group of you who need to be educated on some of the possibilities if you're going to be inspired to take the first step.

Here are just a few great reasons to have a mailing list:

  • You have direct communication: Having access to a list means direct communication with your audience.  With social networks or blogs, you are dependent on your audience being online at the right time to see your latest news or coming to your website.  Email marketing on the other hand, allows you to get right into your audiences’ inbox – something that they are most likely not going to miss.
  • You can keep your audience updated: With a list, you have the ability to keep your readers, customers, and fans up to date with the latest information about your blog or business.
  • You'll become the go-to person: Emailing your audience regularly will keep you on the top of their mind.  Even if they don’t need your information, products, or services now, they will remember you when they do need them.

So if you aren’t building a subscriber list, begin today!  You can get started with any of these email marketing / mailing list providers (Kajabi integrates with all of them):

Be sure not to make your decision on an email marketing provider only by price. Watch some videos to check out how user-friendly each one looks. You'll be using your email marketing service to mail to your list often, so you're going to want it to be easy to use and figure out.  When in doubt, find businesses similar to yours. Subscribe to their newsletters and mailing lists, and find out what they use.

2.) Pride: Thinking You Don't Need To Make It Easy For Visitors To Sign Up For Your List

You can incorporate sign up or opt-in forms for your mailing list in a variety of ways.  Be sure when you include yours that it's available for anyone, anywhere on your website.

Some great places for an opt-in form are:

  • On your sidebar
  • At the end of your content / post
  • At the top of your website in the header area
  • In the website footer
  • As a popup when visitors arrive at your website

Most email marketing services provide you a way to create an opt-in form and deploy it on your website. You'll get a simple piece of code that you can copy and paste in to your site's code, wherever you see appropriate to place an opt-in form.

You can even create popup or hover opt-in forms with all kinds of fancy options (when they show, how they appear, etc.). Though popups are a controversial way to get additional opt-ins to your mailing list, most people using popups can attest to their results.  While you may lose some visitors based on their annoyance, you will also gain more sign ups to your mailing list.

3.) Lust: Coveting Attractive People On Facebook, But Not Attracting Your Own Facebook Visitors To Opt In

Facebook is one of the few social networks that allows you to have custom content on your business page.  You used to be able to take advantage of this in a big way by adding an opt-in form for you mailing list on a custom content tab on your Facebook page.

However, Facebook Timeline for Business arrived and changed a lot of things. The new update removes the option of choosing a default landing page, dramatically reducing the results you could have had with it.

But don't fret! Initial studies are showing that Facebook visitors engage more with the Timeline format than they ever did with the old fan pages, so take advantage of this. The good news is that with Timeline, you have new options for getting your content in front of Facebook visitors.

First, you can highlight important posts. This will stretch the content on the timeline so that it takes up the full width, putting it front and center as visitors scroll down your timeline.

Second (and probably more effective), you can pin any of your posts top the top of your Timeline, making it one of the first things users see at the top of your Facebook page.

Pinned content gets unpinned after 7 days, so just remember to repin it, or better yet, create new content or offers that you can pin. Some appropriate content to pin would be Facebook-only deals, product announcements, and new blog posts.

4.) Greed: Not Offering Your Visitors Something Free For Signing Up

If you're not trying to build a massive email list, you can probably skip this one.  But if you do want to get as many signups to your email list as possible, probably the most compelling reason you can give someone for joining is a freebie.

A freebie can be something as simple as packaging a series of blog posts into PDF format and calling it a free eBook, or offering a percentage or dollar off discount for your products / services to mailing list subscribers. It can be a video or audio training that you're making only available for those that opt in.

Just be sure that the freebie offered is something that attracts your target audience.  Sure, an iPad giveaway is likely to attract lots of sign ups, but the important thing is whether those subscribers will care about your emails once the contest is over.

Think about why someone would have come to your site. Where did they come from? What was on their mind when they came to your site? What were they looking for, or what did they need? Once you determine the answers to these questions, figuring out the right type of freebie that will convert new leads for you becomes much easier.

5.) Envy: Always Wanting & Wishing, But Never Creating Your Own Squeeze Page

How can you do more for building your mailing list than having well-placed opt-in forms?  Try a squeeze page.  Chances are you've come across numerous ones in your time online that you wished you could have, but never took the time to make a beautiful one for yourself.

This is a page that is solely dedicated to getting people to sign up for your mailing list.  It’s a page where the main and only call to action is getting someone to give you their email address.

Your visitor arrives at your page and you hit them with an offer. Here's what you could say on video: "Have you ever wanted to learn how to (insert visitor's need)? I am an expert at (your relevant expertise) because I've (list your relevant credentials). I'll show you just how to (insert visitor's need) in (number) easy steps. Just enter your email address and I'll send you the info, right now."

As you can see, squeeze pages work best with a freebie. It's also commonly referred to as an "ethical bribe". You are offering them something of value to them (that's the ethical part) in exchange (the bribe) for their email.

The part that people get hung up on is how to design the darn squeeze page. Here at Kajabi, we understand that. So we've made the process extremely simple. Choose a theme, enter in your marketing copy (above), and add an eye-catching headline for good measure. Publish your squeeze page, and you're ready to start capturing leads.

Here's a squeeze page we built using Kajabi:

Yeah, Kajabi's pretty friggin' awesome like that. Learn more here.

6.) Anger: Only Getting Rid Of Subscribers, But Never Wisely Segmenting Them

Over time, you're bound to build up certain kinds of subscribers you don't want or need on your mailing list. Therefore it is essential that you occasionally prune & regularly segment your email list. The problem is, if people ever take action on any, it's the first and not the latter.

Pruning Subscribers

Most mailing list providers charge you based on your number of subscribers.  While you may not get many of the above referenced subscribers, remember that even 100 bad subscriptions could be the difference between one pricing level and the next.

For example, you'll inevitably get several visitors who register using fake email addresses (if you don't use an email confirmation requirement). If the email address is gyxcicoows @ hotmail.com, then it is probably a fake or spam registration.

You'll want to get rid of these, as they have no potential or value for you. Filter your list for email bounces, and remove emails that have bounced a few or more times.

Also, some email marketing providers will still count unsubscribed emails toward your list total. Download and backup these email addresses if you need to, but you should also trim them from your list too.

Segmenting Your List

It's obvious why most people focus on pruning their list. Doing away with the surplus of unnecessary emails on your mailing list is going to save you money right away.

Having said that, segmenting your list will actually make you multiple amounts of money over what you might save by only pruning it. When you segment your list, you can deliver more targeted messages to each of your subscribers, giving them more of what they're looking for, and not hitting them with messages that are irrelevant to them.

You can segment your subscribers by a variety of criteria based on how they've responded while being on your list. You can separate them depending on which emails they've opened, which emails they followed links (clicked) on, how recently they engaged with your emails, amongst several other factors. Tailor your messages to these segments and guarantee better open and conversion rates from your future email blasts.

For instance, with a segment that never opened a particular email for your newest product, you can try sending them an email with a headline that offers a special discount or free trial to that new product. This way, you're sending only this segment another email, without burning out the other part of your list that's already opened your previous email.

7.) Gluttony: Mailing Your List A Bunch Of Crap They Don't Want

The last (but certainly not least committed) list building sin is sending your subscribers stuff they don't want, need, or find value in!  There’s no sense in collecting leads and in building a mailing list if you're just going to start obliterating the relationship from the getco.

The biggest mental hump for many marketers to get over once they have a list is to just start mailing their subscribers. They stop themselves with mind talk like, "what if they get mad at me for mailing them? What if they unsubscribe? What does that say about me? I can't handle that kind of rejection... :( "

That's the kind of conversation many people have in their head - sad, but true. They'll pay a monthly fee for a list, but are initially scared to do anything with it. So if that's you, you need to get over that real quick! :)

Be careful though. Once you can muster up the courage to start taking action with your list, the tendency is to go guns blazing and start spamming your readers with useless sales offers in hopes of monetizing your efforts thus far.

Needless to say, if that's you, you may be a little lost at this point. And we get it, it's common. We've all been there. You have a mailing list. You want to make the most of it. But how do you know what kind of stuff to send to your subscribers so that you're building your list, and not tearing it down?

You can find several resources online of how to communicate with your subscribers, but the bottom line is, you want to send them as much cool and valuable info as you can, while simultaneously selling to them. Yes, not one or the other, do both!

If you find a way to sell entertainingly, you can do it in every relevant message. There's no "6 days of info, 1 day of selling" magic formula. Your best bet is to offer value while cleverly selling, in every email.

Sometimes it's selling yourself, sometimes it's selling your product, sometime's it's selling someone else's product. If you're relevant and you teach something worthwhile with every sales message, believe it or not, people will love to get sales messages from you! Makes sense, right?

The point is, if they subscribed to you at one point, they're willing to listen. In fact, they're probably waiting to hear more from you, and hoping it's good. You get to determine how that subscriber relationship gets built. So don't let them down - communicate with them and add value to their inbox!

Even if you don’t have a new product to promote, simply get in touch with your subscribers by sharing a new blog post, video, or article that they shouldn’t miss.  Whether it is your post (which is preferable) or someone else’s, that simple bit of contact might be the difference between keeping your business in mind the next time they need something vs. forgetting about you completely.

These aren't the only list building sins out there, but they are some of the ones committed most often.  What are some others you would avoid for successful list building? Let us know below...

Tue, 28 Feb 2012 13:11:00 -0800 New Kajabi Feature: Custom Funnel Theme Editor! http://blog.kajabi.com/theme-editor http://blog.kajabi.com/theme-editor

We're excited to show you Kajabi's new funnel theme editor, which will give you even more customization and control over the look and feel of your funnel pages. This will apply to your funnel events, sales pages, pre-cart pages, and thank you pages. Check out the video above to see how it works.

1.) Go To Your Funnel's Settings

The way you'll get to your funnel theme editor, is to (under your funnel tab) just go to your "Funnel Settings". You can access it on your funnel list, or in your funnel details.

2.) Select & Duplicate A Theme For Editing

Next, choose which funnel template you'd like to explore, and then select which theme you'd like to customize.

Once you select the theme you want to customize, just select "Duplicate". Kajabi will make you a duplicate of the theme that you can edit and customize. To customize your duplicate, just click "Edit".

3.) Make Your Customizations

When you get to the new funnel theme editor, you'll see at the top a dropdown that will isolate each section of your funnel theme for customization. The area below that will allow you to modify the style settings for each section. And the last area is your live preview, where you'll get to see instantly how the changes you make would look to your visitors.

Once you use the dropdown and select the section of your funnel theme you want to work with, you'll notice the live preview scroll down exactly to where your section is located and highlight it at the same time. This is so you know exactly which area you're modifying.

When you've selected the section you want to work with, you can make style changes on a number of different elements, like the font, background, and spacing.

4.) Preview Your Changes & Save

You'll see your live preview get instantly updated as you make your changes. If you don't like the changes you've made to the current section you're working on, just hit "Clear."

If you don't like the changes you've made to anything during the current session, you can just hit "Reset all Styles", which will revert everything back to how it looked at your last save.

Other than that, if you like the changes you've made, you can just hit "Save".

5.) Apply Your New Custom Funnel Theme

To apply your customized theme to your funnel, make sure it's selected in your funnel settings, and save the funnel to update it. Then, when you preview any of your funnel pages, you'll see your customized style applied.

That's how quick and easy it is to edit the look and feel of your funnel, using the new theme editor in Kajabi!

Let us know what you think of the new theme editor below!

Mon, 13 Feb 2012 16:25:00 -0800 Travis' Story: The Wise Old Farmer http://blog.kajabi.com/the-wise-old-farmer http://blog.kajabi.com/the-wise-old-farmer

Farmer

I wanted to share a personal story today that will hopefully serve and encourage you as a business owner.

I grew up on a farm. When I was a teenager, I would work on farms every single summer. And one of the best jobs to get was to be a tractor driver. It meant you didn't have to do any more manual labor. You just got to sit on a tractor and drive.

Well, one of the hardest jobs driving a tractor was plowing fields right after baby trees were planted. These things were precious. You wanted to be very careful with them not only because they'd just been planted, but also because they costed $14 each. Every time you messed up and plowed over the top of one, you'd have to take that out of your paycheck. And at the time, I was making $3 an hour. So a whole day's pay would be lost with one mistake.

The reason I'm telling you this story is that I couldn't get it right. Every time I'd drive down the row, I'd be all over the place. Finally, my boss comes up to me (he was this wise old farmer) and says, "You want to know how to get this straight? You gotta focus on where you're going, and not the mistakes you've made along the way."

"You gotta focus on where you're going,
and not the mistakes you've made along the way."
- The Wise Old Farmer

As you can imagine, the advice came off as pretty cliché. Nevertheless, I did what he said. I looked at something way beyond where I was at. It could have been a tree, a house, or a barn. So long as it was an object way off in the distance in the direction I wanted to go, I focused on it. And so once the tractor was ready, I took hold of it, dropped the disc, and just stared at where I was going the whole time. I could feel myself making mistakes, but I wouldn't budge. I would just narrowly focus and stare at where I was going.

To go down a road that long would take a long time. You'd have just sit in place for 10 minutes. And that's what I did. I drove all the way to the end, pulled the disc up, and took a look back. It was totally straight - I was blown away! I went back to the farmer and said, "How is that possible? How did that happen?" He explained, "Every time you make a mistake, you turn look at it, so your body shifts the tractor. When you make another mistake, you overcompensate the other way. You can't drive looking through your rear-view mirror. You can't always look at your mistakes. Just focus on where you're going."

When I did that, I managed to drive straight down the path. I made mistakes, but ended up in the right spot. And that's a common theme with how Kenny and I built Kajabi. We made mistakes along the way, but we focused on where we wanted our business to go and kept working at it. More importantly, we keep this mindset today as we continue to grow Kajabi.

- Travis

"What is the future of email? Will it continue as a ubiquitous form of communication, or will it fade away in favor of Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and other newer communication platforms?

We decided to get away from the rhetoric around email marketing and social media and ask the next generation what they think.

167 students wrote essays on the topic and sent them to us. After reading and analyzing the essays, here's what we found they think about email and social media."

Thu, 15 Dec 2011 18:55:00 -0800 MORE December Kajabi Features! (Santa Approved) http://blog.kajabi.com/kajabi-product-update-december-edition-part-2 http://blog.kajabi.com/kajabi-product-update-december-edition-part-2

Sound the trumpets: Christmas has come early and will be lasting ALL MONTH here at Kajabi!

It’s hard to resist the urge to put on a Santa hat & beard, but we’re definitely in the spirit of giving this time of year. ;) This week, we’re delivering another round of Kajabi goodies for you. Check out what’s new:

MailChimp Integration

Everybody’s favorite monkey is playing with Kajabi! That’s right, we now integrate with MailChimp. Watch the video below to see how easy it is to set up:

New Fresh Login Screen

You’ll notice a completely new look to the Kajabi login screen. We thought, with so many of you logging in to Kajabi every day, what better way to welcome you back than with a ridiculously cool looking login page?

New Project List Screen

The project list screen got a facelift, too. It has a new design that highlights data for each of your Kajabi projects, and also gives you easy links to manage those projects’ comments and users. Below your projects will be links to several Kajabi resources, including the latest from our blog, knowledge base, and Flight Academy.

New Project Overview Screen

Also getting a total makeover for this round of updates is the project overview screen. Now, every section of your Kajabi project is just a click away. You’ll also find some quick stats on your right sidebar that will help you keep your eye on how your project grows.

Remain On Post Edit After Updating

After you’ve edited a post and updated it, you will now stay on the post edit page instead of being taken back to your list of posts.

Breadcrumbs On Post Edit

You now have breadcrumbs that include the category on your post edit screen, making it easier to jump to a category overview. This is especially helpful for bigger projects with several categories or posts.

Custom Password Reset Pages

The design on your password reset pages will now match your project’s login screen. Your members will get a more fluid experience should they need to reset their password.

Managing Admin Users

With the revamp of the new project list screen, we decided to move the admin user management to the “My Account” section (found at the top right of your admin, right under the welcome).

Wed, 07 Dec 2011 15:53:00 -0800 Kajabi Product Update - November & December Edition! http://blog.kajabi.com/kajabi-product-update-december-edition http://blog.kajabi.com/kajabi-product-update-december-edition

As we approach the end of the year, we wanted to take some time out of this busy season to highlight some of the recent features we've added to Kajabi over the past couple months. These new additions have been well received, and we're excited to publicly announce them to you today!

New Kajabi Features:

Evergreen Notifications

(UPDATE: the beta test group is now closed, thank you for your participation - this feature will be released soon to the public)

Evergreen mode in Kajabi allows you to release any piece of content to each of your members on a specified number of days after their join date. Kajabi has always let your user know how soon your content would be unlocked to them, but we're taking it a step further.

Now when you enable the option, your members can receive an email alerting them that your piece of content has been unlocked inside your Kajabi membership site. If they choose to receive these alerts, they will receive a single email listing all the posts/categories that were unlocked that day.

To enable Evergreen notifications, just go to your "Settings" tab, scroll down to the "Content Delivery Options" section, and tick the box that says, "Email users about new evergreen content". Each of your members can turn evergreen notifications on or off for their own account.

Original Video File Link

When you upload a video into a Kajabi project, you will now see a link to the original video file you uploaded inside your admin. If you ever lose your original video file, you can easily download it again using this link. All links are secured and encrypted (even for admins), so they can't be passed around.

It's not just for new videos, either. Any prior videos you've uploaded will also have a download link to the original file.

With this feature, there's no need to upload the same video twice. Just grab the link to your original video file and use the "Add Media from URL" option to add a current video to a new piece of content or funnel event.

Spell Check

Are you typo-prone or do you just happen to type too fast? Don't worry, we've got you covered with spell check.

You'll notice a new button inside all the body sections across your Kajabi admin. It has an "ABC" with a checkmark next to it. Just click the button at any time to highlight words in your entry that may not be spelled correctly and get suggested replacements.

Forum Subscriptions

Your members can now subscribe to any thread inside your forum. To do so, they can just click the "Subscribe" button when viewing any thread. They will receive an email notification whenever someone adds to that thread's conversation.

Project Favicons

Ever notice those little icons that pop up in the address bar or on the tab of a website you're visiting? Those cute little squares are called "favicons". And you can now give a favicon to each of your Kajabi projects. This will help you with your branding across your Kajabi site.

To give your project a favicon, just go to the "Settings" tab and scroll down to the "Site Favicon" section under "Project Logos". You may upload any image file (at least 16x16), and Kajabi will convert it and turn it into your site's favicon. Images with square dimensions are recommended.

Hidden but Embeddable Offers

When you choose to hide an offer on your sales page, in the past, it would also disable the offer from being embedded on another page. We realized that it may be beneficial to have an offer hidden on one sales page, but want that same offer to show up somewhere else.

For one, this means you don't have to duplicate offers if you decide to create another sales page. But also, this means you don't have to duplicate shopping cart integrations. You can keep each shopping cart integration in its own funnel. Any offer using that shopping cart can be created in that same funnel. Then, you can embed the offers on as many sales pages as you like.

Just to revisit, hiding and embedding offers is extremely simple in Kajabi. To hide an offer, just tick the "Hide Entire Offer" button under the "Offer Visibility" section when you're editing an offer. To embed an offer, just grab the embed code under the "Embedded Link" section when you're editing an offer. You can place this code on any sales page or website.

New Fields in Export

You'll see some new fields when you export data from a Kajabi project. The new fields are "Login Count", "Failed Login Count", "Last Request At", and "Last Login At". It's just more insight into how your members participate with your portal.

As a reminder, to export your project data, just go to the "Settings" tab and scroll down to the section called "Export Data" on the right sidebar. Once you hit go, we'll mail you a link to download the data as soon as it's ready.

Thu, 10 Nov 2011 12:08:00 -0800 Reworking The Classic Sales Page... http://blog.kajabi.com/reworking-the-classic-sales-page http://blog.kajabi.com/reworking-the-classic-sales-page
You know the old saying, "what got you here, won't get you there"?

Here at Kajabi, we believe that's solid advice. You don't always need to reinvent the wheel, but you must not get lazy in your marketing! What worked well in the past won't always give you the results you want to get to the next level in your business.

So today, we're taking a hard look at the classic long-form online sales letter. We've used it, and you probably have also. Does it still work as well as it once did? Jeff Walker, the creator of the Product Launch Formula, just released a new training that answers that question. And when Jeff talks, we listen... and take lots and lots of notes!

We thought we'd share all the notes we took while watching Jeff's "Sideways Sales Letter" video. Hope you get as much as we did from it!

Fri, 07 Oct 2011 15:47:00 -0700 Kajabi Product Update - October Edition! http://blog.kajabi.com/2-new-features-to-increase-customer-engagemen http://blog.kajabi.com/2-new-features-to-increase-customer-engagemen

Kajabi membership sites have always been optimized for engaging community experiences. Now we're adding two more features to increase your customers' engagement and social activity: comment notifications & private messaging (UPDATE: both of these features are live!).

Comment Notifications

It often happens that your users will post a comment on one of your trainings, and want to be notified as soon as you respond to that comment. They don't want to have to keep checking back to see if you replied.

You might also have instances where one user will reply to another user's comment, whether to answer them, or to follow up with another question. Everyone involved in the conversation should be kept in the loop if the dialogue continues.

That's where the new comment notification feature comes in. Just activate it for your site (under your project's settings), and your users can choose if they want to receive comment notifications on posts that they comment on. If so, they'll receive notifications by email every time someone replies to a comment thread that either they've started or are participating in. They'll never have to miss the important conversations again.

Check out how it works:

Private Messaging

Anytime one of your users browses another user's profile, they'll have the option to message that user. Their message will be sent instantly and privately.

You can activate this feature inside your project's settings, and your users can choose if they want to receive private messages. They can also be notified by email if they have a new private message waiting for them. Most importantly, they can block any specific user from contacting them (a.k.a. "the creeper feature").

See it in action:

Wed, 28 Sep 2011 15:34:00 -0700 What Is A Reverse Squeeze Page? http://blog.kajabi.com/what-is-a-reverse-squeeze-page http://blog.kajabi.com/what-is-a-reverse-squeeze-page

Have you ever heard of a reverse squeeze page? It’s one of the latest methods in squeeze page conversion. While it may sound a little confusing, the idea is really quite simple – offer whatever you were planning to bribe your visitor with before asking for their information. We’ll continue to explain how and why it works, but what you should know is that you can execute this strategy in several ways, quickly and easily, using Kajabi.

The Traditional Squeeze Page

The traditional squeeze page consists of a catchy headline, enticing copy, and a teaser video or picture (if the marketer is good). These elements tell the visitor what they’ll receive on the other side, after they optin (with a name and/or email address) for more information. It also gives reasons why the visitor would want this content, and establishes credibility at the same time.

The Reverse Squeeze Page

With a reverse squeeze page, you give your best content up front. Visitors can consume your ideas without being required to give up anything. You still have all the same elements of a regular squeeze page, plus the content you would have normally given after the optin. If your visitor wants to opt in for similar content to what you present, they have the choice of doing so. This reversing of the traditional squeeze page’s core objective is how the “reverse squeeze page” gets its name.

Moving The Free Line

With the traditional squeeze page format becoming worn out in some circles as customers wise up to marketing tactics, this movement has been popularized by marketers like Eben Pagan, who often preaches “moving the free line”. Right off the bat, you can see the theoretical beneft of employing this approach to your marketing funnel: higher quality subscribers.

When you offer your incentive from the get go without requiring your visitor to subscribe, those that do decide to opt in have pre-qualified themselves for you. They can be considered highly motivated prospects because they willingly signed up for more from you even after being exposed to what you have to offer.

Building your list this way increases the number of people on your list who are actually interested in you and your material. It will help you avoid the subscribers who are just kicking the tires and hoping to get a free gift. These are the types who never open your emails, or just unsubscribe right after receiving what they opted in for.

The Result: Better Leads?

The jury is still out on if this means less subscribers in the end. The number of subscribers will vary based on the quality of the free content offered by those using this model. In other words, if you're all hype and your content sucks, this may not be the method for you (stick with a traditional squeeze page). ;)

On the other hand, some theorize this model results in more sales. The belief is that when you give more value in the beginning (without asking for anything back), you start the business relationship off right, and reap the benefits in the end.

You’ll have to test and see what works for you. One thing that seems certain though, is that the quality of your list will be higher when using a reverse squeeze page. It makes sense, as readers are being automatically pre-qualified before they receive any further marketing messages from you.

Reverse Squeeze Page Examples

Here are some reverse squeeze page examples and how to create them easily in Kajabi:

Version #1: Limited Value Page Access

In this version of the reverse squeeze, you lead your visitor through two or more valuable pieces of training, but when they try to access or play the 3rd (or next) piece, they are asked to optin to continue their training.

Version #2: Value Page With Optin

In this version of the reverse squeeze page, you give a valuable piece of training away with an optin form at the bottom of the page.

Version #3: Closed Value Funnel

In this version of the reverse squeeze, you lead your visitor through a value funnel with an optin form at the bottom of the last page.

Version #4: Open Value Funnel

In this version of the reverse squeeze, every page of your value funnel is accessible and has an optin form at the bottom of it.

Fri, 16 Sep 2011 19:01:00 -0700 Kajabi Product Update - September Edition! http://blog.kajabi.com/kajabi-product-update-september-edition http://blog.kajabi.com/kajabi-product-update-september-edition

We have septupled the number of Kajabi squeeze page themes!  That's right, you now have 42 brand-new beautiful squeeze page themes to choose from.

You'll also find a slew of other awesome features available to you right now. Here's Travis to give you the rundown:

New features:

Squeeze page themes

Inside your squeeze page editor, you'll notice a section for templates and a section for themes.

Templates correspond to the location of all the elements of your squeeze page: the header, the headlines, the content, the media, and the optin box.

Themes, on the other hand, refer to the look and feel of the squeeze page. So, each theme will have its own color scheme and custom images, but again, the placement of each section of your squeeze page is going to be determined by the template.

All you have to do is choose a template, choose a theme, update your squeeze page, and then check out how your new squeeze page looks.

Name Capture

You can now turn on or off capturing names in your squeeze pages. In your squeeze page editor, just scroll down to where it says, "collect their name" and check the box. You may want to consider split testing this - one version without the name capture, and one with.

Custom Header Image

When previewing your squeeze page, you'll notice the option of adding a custom header image. It's no problem if you choose not to, as your squeeze page can be shown with or without a custom header image.

If you did want to add your own customized header, just go to the section in the editor titled, "Choose a Custom Header Image", upload your image, and you're all set.

* Design Tip: On your custom header image, as well as your portal header, we recommend you use a transparent PNG file. It will blend in nicely with your squeeze page or membership portal.

More Bulletpoint Types

You'll see a bunch of new bulletpoint types in the editor now. Just click the icon with a picture of a checkbox on it and you'll see all the new types you can choose from. Click the icon again to choose another type if you like. Easy as cake.

More Buttons & Thumbnails

We've added several more submit buttons and teaser thumbnails to give you more options for persuading your visitors to optin to your content. Just scroll down to where it says "Change Button" and "Add Thumbnail" in your squeeze page editor and take care of your business. Simple as that.

New Layouts

Give your text some pizazz! You have even more choices now on the way you lay out your content. Try the new content layout templates anywhere you edit content in Kajabi.

New Dividers

We've added many more dividers for you to select from. Use them to create stylish spacing and make your copywriting stand out.

Add Tables

Use tables to arrange your text or images and easily present concepts to your readers. You can use tables for numerous purposes, from displaying a pricing grid, to making an argument with statistics, to comparing features between product A and product B.

Smooth Look on Squeeze Pages

You'll notice that the elements on your squeeze pages look even more smooth now. We improved readability, font selection and spacing, and also made some small visual improvements.

Admin Facelift

We polished up the admin a little bit in making sure your experience with us always stays fresh. You'll notice more of these graphical enhancements in the next series of updates as well.

New Video Player Skin

Krunch (our video encoder) just some new digs. Our video player has a sleek new skin to make your videos look even more professional.
